Lesson learned in the woods
I love trying new things, and this year I have taken up hunting. So I went and bought a crossbow and some camo's. My good friend took me to the woods and started showing me what to look for, where to shoot the deer, and how to be ready when they come. Most of the time you wait, and wait for that sound of a deer walking near your tree stand. During that time, while you wait for that buck, it is very peaceful. You can hear everything. Squirrels, humming birds, and rabbits can be running around you. In the beginning, you really enjoy this time because you are not "busy". But now, it's been 5 times that I have been out in the woods, and still no deer. You see the same squirrels and start even giving them names. I realized yesterday afternoon that I was starting to get access to the deer.
This morning I woke up reflecting on my times in the woods. The holy spirit started talking to me on how I do the same thing in my walk in life. I would get a revelation or an idea and I would not waist any time in applying it to my life. With my strengths being futuristic person and an activator, pioneering is very easy for me. Seeing results, however, is a different matter. If I don't see the results quickly, I tend to be anxious and start doing things on my own instead on being dependent on God. It was the same being in the woods. As much fun as I am having, I still want to take that deer down. But I am realizing, hunting is more than just seating on a tree stand and waiting. You have to know the behaviors of the deer. You have to know where the deer are coming from and which area they are going to. It's the same when God gives you a dream, revelation or an idea. Its' not so much about achieving it, but what you learn during the process of achieving it. He wants us to learn His ways. As you discover His ways, I feel the process is shortened because He starts giving you the secrets of life. But when we try to do things on our own, we delay our promises. The verse that comes to me is "Be still, and know that I am God". Funny being still is a key when your hunting out in the woods :)
